About Me

Asalaamu alaykum (peace and blessings be upon you) – my name is Loni.  I have three older sisters, 2 cats, 10 fish, and a husband.  I am pregnant, we are expecting the baby insha’allah in November.  I am Muslim.  I reverted to Islam three years ago.  The posts in this blog are centered around my life as an American Muslim, the changes and emotions I am experiencing throughout my pregnancy, and also lists some background info on Islam for those who are interested.

Why I Feel I Know What I’m Talking About:

I am happy to answer any questions about Islam (including personal questions about my own journey to Islam), so don’t be shy.  I have taken a few classes which increased my knowledge of Islam:

-World Religion
-Global Gender Issues
-Arab Culture and Language
-Gender in Islam

I have also spoken with many scholars of Islam, in addition to doing my own personal research through my small library of books about Islam that is continuously growing.

Other Meaningful Experiences:

-Taught Creative Writing at a Women’s Correctional Facility.
-Served as Facilitator for Intergroup Dialogues in the Intergroup Relations Program.
-Worked at treatment facility for children with emotional and behavioral problems.

Salaams! Nice blog sis! I’ll try to keep up. :) So you’re a creative writer too? May Allah bless your pregnancy and make it easy for you! You’re almost there, insha’Allah! I love having babies. :)

Yes, I am a creative writer…who is too scared to send out her work! :) I have the dream to do some writing for magazines and I have gone so far as to create the articles, print out the cover letters, and pop it all in an envelope – and then it never makes it to the mailbox. It is a shame. If I’m going to be a successful writer, I have GOT to get over the fear of rejection. But this blog has helped alot in getting me focused and keeping me motivated. So insha’allah I will be able to make it happen one day (“it” being the trip to the mailbox…) Thanks for visiting – I really enjoy your sites.
